Are y'all in the witness protection program? Inquiring minds want to know. ~

I stalk a lot of blogs.

And I've always wondered why... some of you... refer to your spouse and children as "Mr {insert blog name here}" or "Thing 1, 2, 3...".

What's up with that?!?!

Are ya'll concerned about your privacy?  Uhm, you are putting yourselves out there on the internets. Sometimes on a daily basis.   Posting pictures of yourselves, family and your home. You do realize this, right??

Maybe I'm completely oblivious.

Fill me in so I can understand.

It keeps me up at night.

XO

Most people's attempts at privacy wouldn't ever work to keep bad folks away. I don't try very hard, although I don't give my street address or phone number out on my website!

LOL I wonder the same thing - although I do use the words "hubs" and "hubby" sometimes, but then I also use "My Bradley" - so my readers should know that would be his name.

This is hilarious! And true -
Although often John will say - " can you leave me out of your blog?"
and btw I hate it - absolutely hate it when friends post photos of me on FB without me knowing about it - they are usually the ugliest ones possible so I sort of kind of in a way " get it " It's almost like it's really not our place to be throwing our loved ones out there in the blogmosphere.
The only one who is a Mr. is my ex. MR EX - and he is the least deserving of
    the title Mr. believe me.
    LOL
    Great Post Meg

Haha I always wonder this, too!
I mean, if you don't want to name names for whatever reason, just say "my husband" or "my kid" rather than the weirdo nicknames.

It's not like hiding someone's first name is really going to keep your identity a secret on the internet ;)

You are so funny! I guess the only thing I don't like to do is put my dogs names on.....I live in the country and don't like people getting too familiar with my dogs. Which, now that I think about it is just as silly....they would let you in for a steak!

I am your newest follower you cracked me up. I follow a blog that she has a list of each of the fake names and what relation they are to her. I will say I do not give out my grand daughters name as her parents have asked me not to. To stay on the good side I have respected their wishes

I usually refer to my husband or hubby rather than his name just because I don't think readers will remember the names of my husband and son and I hope it avoids confusion. If any blogger thinks that will hide their identity they are going to be disappointed.
Love a post that makes me laugh.

This was a hard one for me. At first I wasn't going to share pictures of my family, but how could my blog be about me and my family without pictures, right?

So, I decided to keep their names private. Especially the kids. I will never mention their names or schools they go to. I also make sure to block out anything with their school names on them (clothing, etc.)

And... only a select few may have my address.

Plus, I have a really mean kitty security cat as protection!

I totally call my boys the Things in real life. I swear I'm not just being some crazy "I think I can protect my kids by putting fake names with real faces" mom. Haha. It's just too good of an excuse to buy them matching Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts really. Thing 1 is Otto and Thing 2 is Eddie. The whole "hubs" thing never appealed to me. Besides, most bloggers have their last name out there somewhere. I put an "E" because I'm tried of people misprouncing my all too easy last name. ;) Good post though.

LOL I call Ryo, THE HUSBAND, not for any privacy reason, but because it is the only time I can call him that. We really aren't married. I guess you could say it is the one place I can "pretend" we are. :o)

LOL .. I once read someone referred to her kids as no 1, no 2 and no 3. Well, when I shared this with my kids they immediately connected this to a certain bathroom issue - My daughter, Cheri ".. I will definitely NOT be called no 2 .."
    Have a lovely weekened, Meg!

For now as I am feeling things out it makes me and my husband feel better - especially as we have had our house broken into and I've had to deal with weirdo stalker types in my life. I don't use pictures of the kids that show faces enough to recognize them, don't use my full name, don't use my city or specific location in my state. I guess someone could dig hard enough to figure it all out but why lead them right to my door and give them the address and where my kids go to school, etc.

I do it usually simply to give my husband his own privacy. He has no problem with my blog but he is a pretty private person and he prefers to not be a big part of it. My husband is a disabled Marine Corps veteran and last year around Veterans day I put something about him on Veteran's day and he didn't really like it, he just prefers to stay in the background of my business.

Funny. And since you asked - Yes, I am in witness protection. I think the whole mr quirky thing is really about trying to respect his privacy. I'm sure that will change over time. Actually last week I revealed him as mr. somewhat. still debating which one will stick. sorry I've been missing your party - forgot to put it on my little list. I'm having a party next week! Hope to see you there!

Hilarious! When I first started my other blog (now defunct) I referred to my husband as Mr. Macho. How ridiculous for him. Now he's just husband or hubby, even sometimes call him by his real name. If you want to know more about me, just ask. If I "know" you, like I know you, then you can have all the info you want. Just not publicly. That's what email is for. And you probably know by now that my email name and my real name don't match up. Just a bit of laziness that's turned into a good bit of security.

    Really good question, Meg!

I'm Liz and the Ogre is, well, the Ogre. Our daughter and I have called him that forever. So, no hiding here, just use of a family nickname.

I can understand this..however I don't use my family's names OR images on my blog. I've decided to keep it purely crafting and some about me, just not my family. YET. We'll see if that changes as the still new-ish blog evolves. Just too much craziness in this world I think! For now my husband is 'the hubs' and the kids are referred to 'my 4 year old' and 'my 10 year old'. I was wondering when someone would speak up about this though!! LOL Love your blog!

LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders this. I try to keep our last name off of the blog, although the new Google settings are making that difficult. I also don't put our address and phone number out there, but honestly, it's public record if someone really wanted to find it.

I do put my son's name and picture out there, but I also have him signed with a modeling agency. I don't really mind if his image is out there. He is a big reason why I started my blog in the first place.

I avoid using my husband's name, maybe because it would make it easier to "hunt us down", but mainly because he's weird about that kind of thing.

Stopping by from the All Star Block Party.

Some folks have very unique names and a simple Google search can reveal a lot of information (that isn't always put out there by the individual). If I'm posting information on my blog about a job hunt or vacation or whatever, I certainly don't need all of my readers (or stalkers) to get curious and get too wrapped up in our (not so very exciting) lives.

I don't keep my name hidden so much, but my friends and co-workers and husband have some unique names and I value their privacy. I'm equal opportunity, if my husband gets a ridiculous nickname, then everyone in my life will get one. My mother-in-law loves her blog alias and uses it for most email correspondence now.

    But that's my choice.

John Williams' score dvd can especially be manipulative when Gossip Girl Seasons 1-5 it comes to playing on the emotions (you can actually anticipate when the score is going to swell). However, it's one of his best Spielberg scores dvd in years.
